Welcome, Associated Press Readers
This afternoon I was interviewed by a reporter for the Associated Press. (Yes, THAT Associated Press)
She’s doing a story about online dating, and how people deal with all the emails, winks, nudges, etc. that online dating generates. She seemed to be intrigued by the fact that I deal with all of it by not dealing with it at all!
Indeed, this site exists so I don’t have to deal with the “U R Hot” emails I get from 22-year olds (*shudder*…I wish I were kidding) and the winks from Nigerian scammers, and the “friend requests” I used to get on MySpace from all the rich widowers who just couldn’t wait for me to meet their beautiful children (huh!?!)
I don’t do winks (which are the online equivalent of addressing something to “Occupant”) and I certainly don’t make “friends” with complete strangers. And I say as much in all my personal ads. So, by winking at me or asking me to be friends, you’re helping me out by saying, “Hey, I can’t even be bothered to read your profile!” And you’re making it safe for me to ignore you. Again, it’s all about efficiency. 
Those of you who can read English and are smart enough to read my personal ads (especially the part that says, “visit me at myheroquest.com”) and come here, which is where the action is, get extra credit. And of course, you can talk to me directly (hopefully by sending me a big juicy Facet Foreplay list.)
It will be interesting to see how much traffic the AP story generates (if I make the final cut).
