My Favorite Music
I’m a strong proponent of intellectual property rights. So I actually purchased all the music I have in iTunes. (I’ll give you a moment to get over the shock.)
Below is a partial list of the musicians, bands, composers and performers I enjoy — just the folks who’ll fit into my iPod. At some point I’ll get around to linking them all to a place online where you can buy them legally. For now, I’m linking stuff to Amazon.com, where you can read about the artists and listen to clips of their music. (There’s also a search box for things I haven’t linked to yet.) If you like what you hear, you can satisfy your inherent American desire for instant gratification by buying an MP3 or two.
The largest segments of my music collection are Big Bands & Swing, Old Jazz (not that modern crap the young whippersnappers like—the kind with no beat or melody), Celtic artists, Christmas Tunes (huge collection — I do not allow my agnosticism to interfere with my enjoyment of Christmas), Blues, 1980s Next Wave, 1960s Folk, Rockabilly, Ambient/New Age, Classical, and Broadway & Movie Show Tunes. (Just a note, you’ll have to scroll up & down to see all 600 or so artists.)
